Reports are emerging that Nara Lokesh may get a promotion in the party.
Sources say that Chandrababu Naidu is thinking along the lines of giving a decisive position in the party.
Currently, Lokesh is the National General Secretary. Buzz is that he may be appointed as the Executive President of the Party.
It is a position that has not existed in the party so far.
They say this announcement may happen at Mahanadu later this month.
But then, the party cadre and supporters say Lokesh’s promotion in the party is not needed, but a promotion in the Government is the need of the hour.
A few months ago, there were demands in the party all of sudden that Lokesh be made the Deputy Chief Minister.
But all of a sudden, there is a resistance from the Janasena Cadres.
They felt insecure that Lokesh may be projected as the next Chief Minister, and that does not go well for their ambitions to see Pawan Kalyan as the Chief Minister someday.
Pawan Kalyan Supporters have resorted to all kinds of things including threatening to topple the Government, allying with YSR Congress, etc.
While the demand started becoming big and the noise from the JSP camp became louder, Chandrababu Naidu applied the brakes by asking the Party Leaders not to talk about it.
There is no need for Lokesh’s elevation in the party now.
Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh together are taking all the important decisions pertaining to the party.
Ever since 2019, it has been Lokesh who has been handling TDP’s Back Office.
There is no ambiguity in the party’s rank and file about Lokesh being the next leader for the Telugu Desam Party.
A new position for him does not serve any purpose. But the party cadre is looking for his elevation in the Government.
By steering the party during 2019 and 2024, by doing a marathon Padayatra, and by leading the party when CBN was jailed, Lokesh earned a place in the cadre and the people. Many believe that he desires a better position in this Government.
