Union Minister Nitin Gadkari created ripples recently by wishing YSR Congress MP Avinash Reddy on his birthday. The post went viral as Avinash Reddy continues to face criminal charges in the murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy in Andhra Pradesh.
Avinash Reddy is currently on bail while Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter is fighting to get it cancelled. Allegations persist that the CBI is going soft in this case. The agency told the Supreme Court that the probe was complete, even though the actual perpetrators remain unidentified.
At such a stage, Gadkari’s birthday wish sparked heated speculation. Some sections of media saw it as a political signal, hinting that the BJP might be keeping its options open in Andhra Pradesh. Others, however, felt it was simply a routine social media post.
Big leaders often have dedicated teams managing their accounts, and it is possible the wish was handled the same way. Even so, such posts can create unnecessary political noise. A Union Minister greeting a tainted MP raises questions and sends the wrong message to society.
