FASTag Upgrade! Nitin Gadkari’s New Rs. 3000 Pass from Aug 15

In a game-changing move for Indian road travel, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has introduced a FASTag-based Annual Pass priced at ₹3,000, effective from August 15, 2025.

Designed specifically for non-commercial private vehicles—like cars, jeeps, and vans—the pass will be valid for one year or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first.

The aim is to make highway travel cheaper and hassle-free. No more repeated toll deductions or long waits—just a single, prepaid solution for frequent highway users.

A link for activation and renewal will soon be made available on the Rajmarg Yatra App and websites of NHAI and MoRTH, allowing easy access and quick setup.

This move also addresses issues with closely placed toll plazas, where travelers often end up paying more. By cutting down wait times and simplifying payments, the Annual Pass is expected to ease congestion and reduce disputes, ultimately leading to a smoother travel experience.

With highway networks growing rapidly, this policy is a step towards digitally streamlined transport and improved public satisfaction.

Whether you’re a daily commuter or a frequent traveler, this new pass might just be your ticket to tension-free road trips.

For example, if you frequently drive between cities like Delhi and Chandigarh, where a round trip costs around 810 in tolls, the new FASTag Annual Pass priced at 3,000 can pay for itself in just four trips.

After that, you still get up to 192 more toll plaza crossings — all prepaid.

This pass is ideal for regular travelers, especially those with cars like Thar, Scorpio, or Creta who often hit the highways. It saves money, avoids repeated deductions, and offers smoother travel.

Just remember it’s for private vehicles only and capped at 200 trips — after that, normal toll charges apply again.
