Telangana government seemed very much interested to use only local Telangana dialect in the State government textbooks in schools since this year. But there isn’t only one Telugu dialect in Telangana. Each of the 10 districts of the State have 10 different dialects.
Moreover, sometimes even within a district, we can find multi-dialects used by people. So the experts team roped in to decide on the dialect that has to go into the textbooks of Telangana couldn’t come to a consensus on which Telangana dialect should officially go into the books.
Even in Andhra Pradesh there are numerous Telugu dialects, but it is coastal Andhra Telugu that went into the textbooks of school children. Syllabus Revision Committee in Telangana couldn’t sort out the issue related to the dialect.
So, for this academic year, Telangana students are going to read the Coastal Andhra dialect of Andhra Pradesh. Though the dialect isn’t decided, the syllabus constitutes 90% Telangana flavour.
