SC Gives Jolt to IAS Srilakshmi

The Supreme Court has given a huge shock to IAS Srilakshmi in the Obulapuram Mining Company case. The Supreme Court ruled out the High Court judgement given earlier.

The Apex Court ordered that another investigation be done within 3 months. In 2022, Srilakshmi was discharged from the case. The decision on the discharge petition by the High Court has been set aside by the Supreme Court in a latest move.

It is known that the CBI Court in Hyderabad passed its judgement in the Obulapuram case. Along with the main accused Gali Janardhan Reddy, BV Srinivasa Reddy, VD Rajagopal, Mefaz Alikhan have each been sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment.

The accused will have to pay a fine of Rs 20,000. Along with them, government official Rajagopal got an additional four years in jail and Rs 2000 as fine. The Court said if the accused don’t pay fine, they will have to spend an additional six months in jail.

Obulapuram Mining Company was fined Rs 2 lakh. Though different cases and different punishments were given, the judge ordered that they undergo seven years imprisonment. The jail term already completed was reduced.
