Central government’s Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd had proposed to build one more nuclear power plant in Andhra Pradesh. The corporation is proposing this power plant to be build between Kurnool and Nellore districts. NPCI sent proposals to the state government and is waiting for its response.

But the state government is sitting on the proposal as Nuclear Plants are very dangerous if a mistake happens. Already there is a 6000 MW Nuclear Power Plant being planned in Kovvada. A opinion poll is conducted in Kovvada regarding the project and the state government is currently in talks with the locals and farmers for the land acquisition.
As a result the entire process is very slow. Besides this, NPCI is already building two more nuclear power plants in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. If these two nuclear power plants happen, AP may become power house to supply power to several other states in the South India.
