Parents kill teenage girl

While the progressive activists are busy giving speeches on a casteless society, here is an incident which came into light very late which shows how deep rooted are the feelings of castes in Indian societies. In Chittoor district, the parents of a teenage allegedly killed her for being in love with a boy of a different caste.

A few days ago, police received a complaint from parents that their sixteen year old girl is missing. Eventually police found her dead body in the hillocks near a temple in the outskirts of their village. After investigation, the police found out that it is the parents who strangulated her and buried her body in the hillocks region.

After interrogation, parents accepted that they killed the girl when she didn’t pay heed to their warnings not to interact with the boy of a different caste. Though the girl was murdered on 17th January, her decomposed body was found out on 26th January. This incident is creating sensation in Chittor district. Is there any honour in such honour killings?
