Congress leaderRahul Gandhi has claimed that around 200 officials working under the Narendra Modi government are sharing internal information with Congress. He made the statement during a press conference in Delhi on October 12, amid opposition protests over alleged electoral irregularities.
Rahul Gandhi said the officials belong to various government agencies and departments, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Ministry of External Affairs. He claimed that these officials were in contact with the opposition and providing information from within the government.
He linked his remarks to the ongoing controversy surrounding the Election Commission. However, the claim that 200 officials are sharing internal information with Congress has not been independently established. Rahul did not publicly identify the officials involved.
Rahul also said the opposition had requested an appointment with the Chief Justice of India to discuss alleged electoral irregularities. According to reports, the request was declined on grounds of judicial propriety, with the opposition directed towards the legal process of filing a petition.
The Congress leader announced plans to march towards the Supreme Court to raise these concerns. He accused Delhi Police of restricting the movement of opposition leaders and protesters. He also appealed to people concerned about democracy and the Constitution to participate in the demonstrations.
Rahul criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the allegations concerning the Election Commission. He demanded accountability for alleged wrongdoing and called for changes to the electoral system. The BJP and Election Commission have denied allegations of political bias.
Rahul also said the INDIA bloc and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) were pursuing similar objectives despite organising separate protests. He urged civil society organisations, government employees and members of the public to support the campaign against alleged electoral irregularities.
