Rains Disappoint KCR’s Dream I-Day Fete

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao earlier planned to have the Independence day fete under the biggest national flag unfurled in Sanjeevaiah Park. The Chief Minister was of the opinion that it will be meaningful if the event is celebrated there under the biggest flag but now the idea is ruled out.

The rains prevailing in the city are said to be the reason. Already there are instances of the flag getting damaged during the heavy winds and rains, so the officials do not want to take the risk. Moreover, having the fete in Sanjeevaiah Park may lead to the destruction of the park which is another headache.

So Telangana government decided to have the celebrations at the historic Golconda fort like the last two years. The artists of the cultural department would perform at the fort. The officials have already started arrangements there. They are barricading the venue and arranging adequate water and power supply there.
