Rajadhani Express derailed; 5 dead

Rajadhani Express going from Delhi to Dibrugarh got derailed in Chapra Golden Gunj, Bihar in the early hours of Wednesday. Five passengers were dead and eight were injured in this accident. 12 bogies got derailed. Five coaches-B-1, B-2, B-3, B-4 and pantry car-overturned in the derailment while seven other coaches-B-5 to B-10 and power car got derailed at the station, about 75km from Patna.

Maoists have called for bandh today in Bihar, there are suspicions that there may be their hand in this. There are some reports from the onlookers that there was a blast on the track before the derailment. Passengers were transported to near by railway station after the accident. Central Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda had announced ex-gratia of 2 Lakhs to the dead, 1 lakh to severely injured and 20000 to slightly injured passengers. He also ordered an inquiry in to the issue by Railway Safety Commission.
