Murali Mohan lost from Rajahmundry MP seat in 2009 and won in 2014 elections. He fielded his daughter-in-law, Maganti Roopa in 2019 but she lost empathetically.
Murali Mohan distanced himself from TDP and politics after the defeat. Murali Mohan and Roopa did not come to Mahanadu which happened in Rajahmundry.
The incharge post has been vacant for a long time. But all of a sudden, there is a huge demand.
TDP State Organizing Secretary Lohith Sistla and TDP Secretary Boddu Venkata Ramana Chowdary are the aspirants.
Lohith Sistla is a cash bag due to his industry background and he is from the Brahmin community. Previously, Undavalli who is a Brahmin represented the Rajahmundry Lok Sabha segment twice.
Lohith is from the Krishna district. So, there is the issue of local and non-local.
TDP did not give a ticket for Brahmin community in the 2019 elections. Picking Lohith will tick that box.
Boddu Venkata Ramana is the son of Late TDP Senior leader Boddu Bhaskar Rao. He is from the Kamma community but is not in touch with local politics.
Boddu’s first priority is the Peddapuram Assembly ticket but there is no chance of getting it due to intense competition within the party.
It has to be seen if Chandrababu will give either of them a chance or opt for a third option to take on YSR Congress’s Margani Bharath.
