RGV Attends Interrogation at Ongole PS

Director Ramgopal Varma attended interrogation at Ongole police station on Tuesday morning. Ongole Rural CI questioned the filmmaker over allegations related to his film Vyuham.

The case was filed on November 10 in Maddipadu for allegedly morphing images of Pawan Kalyan Lokesh and Chandrababu during the promotion of the film. Ongole police ordered RGV to appear at the district station and he followed the directive by attending the session.

Although the film carried the usual disclaimer stating it was based on fictitious characters critics accused Ramgopal Varma of creating a story with a strong YSRCP bias.

Vyuham released during a period when Andhra Pradesh was dissatisfied with Jagan and his party. The film failed to attract large audiences and faced backlash for portraying Chandrababu and alliance leaders in a negative way.

While RGV insisted the film was not based on real incidents the legal case continued. In the past the director had skipped some summons citing work commitments.

The ongoing case has appeared to mellow the once outspoken filmmaker who was known for making controversial remarks about alliance leaders. Since then the Vyuham director has avoided political statements and has maintained that stance so far.
