Ramoji Rao in the Race of Country’s Highest Post?

Pranab Mukherjee will be completing his Presidential term by July 2017 and it is unlikely that BJP government will give the UPA nominee an extension. Speculations have began over who can be the next President of India. BJP Veteran Leader, LK Advani may be a frontrunner if not for the difference he had with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Media circles are abuzz that Media Baron Ramoji Rao or Top Industrialist Ratan Tata are in the race as well. Ramoji Rao always stood with Modi since the days of Gujarat but his candidature may not go well with the opposition as Ramoji is an anti-Congress man all his life. Ratan Tata’s candidature may showcase Modi as a corporate croony.

The Chairman of Tata sons, is always seen as an apolitical man and he has close ties with all political parties. Senior BJP Leader from Andhra Pradesh and the Union Urban Development Minister, Venkaiah Naidu may be one more option. But it has to be seen if Venkaiah chooses it over a lucrative Union Cabinet Berth.
