Remove YSRCP Colours from Government Buildings: High Court

In what can be termed as an embarrassing move for the YSR Congress Government, Andhra Pradesh High Court had asked the Government to immediately remove the party colors from the Panchayat Buildings across the state. The Court categorically said that the buildings are of Government’s and should not have party colors.

The court also asked the Government to change the colors before the Panchayat Elections. The Court instructed the State Election Commission to take care of this and also asked the commission to file a counter on this and posted the issue to February 5th.

A division bench headed by chief justice J K Maheshwari made these observations while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the painting of panchayat building with YSRC party’s flag colors at Pallapadu gram panchayat of Vatti Cherukuru block in Guntur district.

Political Experts say that in a way, YSR Congress is lucky that the court did not order to recover the painting and repainting expenses from the party.
