The election fever is slowly catching up in Andhra Pradesh with under 6 months to go for the polls. The leading parties have started to prepare the list of their candidates for the polls.
However, according to reports, it is heard that YCP is having a tough time finalizing the candidates for the parliamentary election as no one is willing to contest on YCP MP ticket in the coming polls.
Despite winning 22/25 MP seats in 2019, YCP is having a tough time now as the party leaders have come to the conclusion that 2024 polls are a gone case with the TDP-JSP alliance and the anti-incumbency.
Even the sitting MPs are reportedly running away from the parliamentary polls and are instead asking for assembly tickets.
Vizag MP MVV Satyanarayana has already clarified he won’t contest as MP next time. Vijayasai’s name briefly came up for Vizag MP seat but he has also faded out now. The Srikakulam MP post is also very vacant with Duvvada Srinivas who lost from here in 2019 finding it hard to contest in 2024 as well.
It is heard that Kakinada, Chittoor, Bapatla, and Amalapuram MPs are all wanting MLA tickets this time around.
Narsapuram MP constituency is going to be prominent this time with YCP’s rebel MP, Raghu Rama to contest from the opposition camp. YCP named Gokaraju Gangaraju as the in-charge briefly but he is no longer active. So, there could be a change of candidates again.
It has to be seen how things turn out for YCP this time around with the party not even in a position to field 25/25 candidates for the MP polls.
