The Chandrababu government has decided to hold Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2026, in Amaravati. This marks the first time that Republic Day will be celebrated in the people’s capital. The decision carries strong symbolic and administrative significance.
The celebrations will take place at the open ground facing the Ministers’ houses on High Court road in the Kondamarajupalem area. This location has been chosen to accommodate official proceedings and large public participation during the national event.
Heavy machinery is being used to clean and prepare the site. One acre has been allotted for VVIP parking, while four acres have been reserved for VIP parking. The ground is being levelled to facilitate the Republic Day parade.
Arrangements are underway to construct a stage that allows viewing from three sides. The Governor, CM, DGP, VVIPs and senior state-level officials are expected to attend the celebrations and oversee the proceedings.
Officials are also preparing spaces for vehicle displays and additional parking. The programme will feature a grand parade, colourful cultural performances and a fireworks display, aiming to reflect the spirit of the occasion.
After bifurcation, Republic Day celebrations were held at Vijayawada Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium. The 2026 event will be the first Republic Day parade to be conducted in Amaravati, marking an important milestone for the capital city.
