Revanth Clarifies ‘I Am King, I Am Minister’ Remark

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said his comment “I am the king, I am the minister” was twisted for political reasons. He stated that the remark was about responsibility, not about power.

Speaking at the Sant Sri Sevalal Jayanti programme at Banjara Bhavan in Hyderabad, Revanth Reddy said he has never behaved like a ruler. According to him, the people gave his government an opportunity to serve, and he sees himself as accountable to them.

Responding to criticism after the municipal election results, he said some opposition leaders deliberately misrepresented his statement. He explained that he also handles the municipal portfolio, and when he said “I am the king, I am the minister,” he meant that he takes full responsibility for both victory and defeat. It was not a claim of authority, but an acceptance of accountability.

He added that every election result is a test of his performance. Instead of blaming voters, he said he is ready to take responsibility for outcomes.

In his speech, he also highlighted development plans for tribal thandas, including BT roads, proper school buildings and solar power supply. He spoke about welfare measures and representation for Scheduled Castes, saying his government increased their participation in administration.

However, the central focus of his address was clear. Revanth Reddy wanted to set the record straight. He insisted that his words were taken out of context and that his intent was to underline responsibility, not dominance.
