In Gajwel municipality, KCR‘s stronghold, no major party managed to get a majority. In fact, out of the 20 wards, BRS won in 10 wards, Congress in 8 wards and BJP and independent member won 1 seat each.
While the BRS is happy with the overall performance and claims to win in the Assembly elections, what went wrong in Gajwel? KCR barely spoke publicly about the municipal polls and looks like his constituency people decided to show him how it is to feel being leftout, say Telangana political observers.
KCR could have been the unopposed God for many in the past decade. But now a new generation has taken guard that wants interaction and accountability. BRS keeping a low profile seems to have worked against the party in Gajwel.
Since local body elections are held on party symbols, the Car appears to have lost speed. Telangana citizens who have voted for the ruling Congress across the state, gave a hung scenario in Gajwel raising questions about the party’s future.
Probably, it is time KCR reaches out to his people, who once trusted him and voted for him. Or are the stars stopping him from playing a more pro-active role in the current political scenario, wonder political observers. KCR is known for his yagnams and homams during his 10-year rule. But he hasn’t done one in a long time. Whatever be his reasons, it is time BRS ups it’s act, they say.
