Sharmila and VSR: Double Batting For Jagan?

Former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan has made it a habit to lose the people who were near to him and fought very hard for his cause. The likes of Sharmila, Vijayamma, Vijaya Sai Reddy and others are on the list.

On that note, we have the latest discussion about the prospect of YSR Congress in the upcoming Andhra Pradesh assembly election in 2029.

We already have the case of Sharmila, who has been fighting very hard against Jagan. Considering her comparative strength in the Rayalaseema region and particularly the Kadapa region, she’s already a handful for Jagan.

It was evident that Sharmila had whatever role she had to play in the dramatic decline of YCP in the Seema region in the last election. Now we have Vijaya Sai Reddy, who has joined the list.

Sai Reddy has labelled Jagan as a Christian and clearly mentioned that he is here to fight for the Reddy population in the state. He has publicly announced that he would be specifically targeting the Seema region.

Considering the fact that Sai Reddy is essentially from the Nellore region, he might have a reasonable affiliation with the neighbouring Seema region. It is going to be a matter of time before he starts his political campaign from the Seema region.

This is not going to be good news to Jagan, who needs the entire and unquestioned backing of Seema region to put up at least a reasonable fight in the assembly polls, let alone win it.

With so many factors starting to work against him already, Jagan is facing an uphill task in maintaining the otherwise stronghold region of Seema. This is going to be a tough challenge beyond all doubt for him.
