Anchor and YSRCP Leader shyamala Approaches TG High Court

Anchor and YSRCP leader Shyamala approached the Telangana High Court and filed a petition to quash the FIR filed on her. The FIR was filed for promoting betting apps on social media.

The hearing of her petition is scheduled for today. A case was filed on Shyamala for promoting betting apps. In the past, Shyamala had promoted Andhra 365 app on social media.

With Indian Premier League (IPL) to start from March 22, a lot of new betting apps have come up on social media. All the apps, old and new, target the common man and middle class people.

There have been cases where people committed suicide due to debts taken after being addicted to the apps. Due to this, RTC MD VC Sajjanar started “Hash tag Say No to Betting Apps’.

Following this, a crackdown on all celebrities who promoted the apps took place. The police filed cases on anchors, television actors and YouTube influencers.

Those involved in betting apps case include Daggubati Rana, Vijay Devarakonda, Manchu Lakshmi, Praneeta, Nidhi Agarwal apart from Ananya Nagalla, Srimukhi, Siri Hanumanthu, Varshini Soundarrajan, Vishnu Priya, Shobha Shetty, Ritu Chowdhary, BS Supreeta, Amruta Choudhary, Nayani Pawani, Neha Pathan, Pandu, Harshasai, Bayya Sunny Yadav and Tasty Teju.

With rising addiction among youth and the middle class, the police have decided to take stern action on promoters. Meanwhile, Rana and Devarakonda have clarified that they promoted only state-backed apps. Almost all the accused have a common stand. They are trying wipe off the blame by saying sorry and that they were unaware of the impact.
