Software Exports Of India: Telangana Ranked 3rd, AP At 15th

Andhra Pradesh is becoming irrelevant in the software map of India with the Government’s zero focus. The industry which bettered the lives of scores of poor and middle-class families during Chandrababu Naidu’s rule is now suffering neglect.

Andhra Pradesh lags far behind the country in terms of exports of software products and the establishment of startup companies. In the financial year 2021-22, companies located in Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and SEZs together exported products worth Rs.11,59,210 crore.

Karnataka (Rs. 3,95,904 crores), Maharashtra (Rs. 2,36,808 crores), and Telangana (Rs. 1,80,617 crores) occupied the first three positions.

Andhra Pradesh ranks 15th in software exports with just 0.111%. In AP, only software products worth Rs. 1,290 crores were exported, including Rs. 926 crores from units registered with STPI and Rs. 364 crores from units in SEZ.

It is noteworthy that Odisha, which is said to be a backward state, exported products worth Rs. 5,169 crores, 300 percent more than AP.

Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar gave this answer to the question asked by BJP member GVL Narasimha Rao in the Rajya Sabha on Friday.
