Sops and Sentiment – Palaniswami Tries to Pacify People

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami who won the Trust Vote on Saturday is attempting to win over the people who are not at all happy with his elevation. Palaniswami addressed his first media conference a little while ago and rolled out several sops to win over the people.

The Big Sops announced by the new Chief Minister include closing 500 more liquor shops, doubling monthly allowance to unemployed youth, Maternity benefit up from 12000 to 18000, 50 Percent subsidy for vehicles to working women, 5000 houses to fisherfolk and others.

Palaniswami intentionally delayed his try to Parappana Agrahara Prison until this press meet as such move will give a wrong impression to the people. In the media conference, there is an Amma photo on the table of the Chief Minister and there is another one behind him in the background.
