The Supreme Court on Wednesday rapped all those involved in the investigation of the rape of a 4-year-old girl. The Supreme Court noted that it was a POCSO case under Section 6 and the insensitivity with which the Haryana police handled the situation and the investigation.
The Supreme Court formed SIT with women IPS officers to handle the case with compassion. The Apex Court showed contempt over the child being investigated in front of the accused. The Court also demanded the Gurugram police to return all the files to SIT. The Supreme Court admonished the police for trying to dilute the seriousness of the matter.
In the same tone, the Supreme Court called the private hospital doctor’s behaviour shameful.
The Supreme Court decision is being lauded as strict measures are needed to stop such sexual assaults on children and women. Many across the country believe the accused must be punished in a manner that those thinking of committing such crimes must run scared.
