Survey: Telangana Heading Towards Coalition Government?

A survey in Telangana commissioned by a group of Osmania University students reportedly said that the ruling TRS party may win only 46 seats if elections are held today. The survey gives a majority of seats to Congress which is likely to get 56 seats.

That will mean neither TRS nor Congress can independently form the government in Telangana. The survey also said BJP is likely to win 8 seats, MIM-7, TDP (TS)-2 and CPI(M)-1. The survey said the former Nalgonda district will give eight out of 12 seats to Congress.

If this survey comes to be true, the support of BJP and MIM will be crucial for the coalition government. Obviously, both the parties will not support a single party. In such case, BJP may choose TRS while Congress will get MIM support.

That will bring Congress to Power even if TDP (TS) and CPI (M) support TRS. On the other side, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao never quotes less than 110 seats in the total 119 seats in the states for 2019 elections.
