T Govt. trying to transfer burden to Union Govt

telangana chevella project kcrTelangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao often claims the proposed Pranahita – Chevella Project as the lifeline of the state. The project when completed is expected to water 12 Lakh acres in the newest state of the country. However experts claim that executing this project is the biggest ever challenge for the state government. According to the government estimates, the project will be costing 50000 Crore to state exchequer.

Which means the government is spending 4 Lakh Rupees per each acre that will be benefited from this project. One more big challenge is that the Power crisis ridden state will have to shell out 2500MW Power for this project which means government will have to spend 15000 per acre for power.

Having fully known this Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is trying to make the project as a National project which will mean that the entire expenditure will be borne by the union government. However to attain the national project status, the project will have to satisfy 18 different aspects like environment permissions, Forest permissions, Niti Aayog, inter state issues etc. Unless with out center’s help, the project execution will become more of a bane than boon to Telangana.
