T govt’s pet project turns big flop show

Tank Bund Free Wifi - a flop show! The prestigious free WiFi service launched in the surroundings of Hussainsagar by the Telangana government is proving to be a flop show. The users trying to access the internet using this free service on Tank bund complain of very poor response or no response from the network.

They say firstly the signal strength is too weak and it is taking ages to obtain the IP address. Even after getting connected and obtained IP address, the WiFi would just go off as soon as the users start browsing any site. Free WiFi is the pet project of Telangana IT Minister K Taraka Ramarao who is projected as the political heir of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

BSNL with the association of Quadgen is providing the free service but they are in denial mode when mentioned about the poor connectivity. BSNL officials say they are yet to receive any such complaint so far. They also add that even if there is a problem, it should be with Quadgen which is responsible for ensuring that WiFi is accessible to everybody. According to the plan, they said the free WiFi is available near Tankbund, Lumbini Park and Necklace road in the radius of 10 Kilometers. About 1800-2500 people can use this service at a time. The first 30 minutes usage will be free and later it will be chargeable.
