There is clarity on the candidates of TDP for one-third of the seats in the Samkuman Prakasam district, with 8 out of 12 candidates finalized.
The post for Darshi is likely to be given to Janasena, an ally, and the party is currently assessing the best candidate for the remaining three seats.
In the last election, four MLAs from TDP won in this district. Among them, Karanam Balaram, who won from Chirala, later joined the YSRCP.
The remaining three MLAs, Gottipati Ravikumar (Addanki), Eluri Sambasivarao (Pachuru), and Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy (KondaP-SC), are set to contest again.
The leadership has decided to field the current in-charges in five more seats. TDP sources mention that Ugra Narasimha Reddy (Kanigiri), Kandula Narayana Reddy (Markapuram), M. Ashok Reddy (Giddaluru), Damacharla Janardhan (Ongole), and Erikson Babu will contest in Yarragondapalem.
NRI Garikapati Venkat, who recently joined Janasena in Darshi, appears active. There are speculations that former MLA Bachina Chenchugaratiah’s son, Krishna Chaitanya, is also aspiring for the party’s ticket.
The TDP leadership continues to work on finalizing candidates for the remaining three seats, with MM Kondaiah in charge of Chirala.
Inturi Nageswara Rao is currently in charge of TDP in Kandukur, but rumors suggest that YSRCP MLA Mahidhar Reddy met Nara Lokesh in Hyderabad and is likely to join TDP.
BN Vijayakumar is in charge of Santanutalapadu (SC), and his brother Dr. Anil is actively pursuing the Eluru district Chintalapudi (SC) ticket race.
There are doubts in the party circles that if Anil secures a ticket there, Vijay Kumar may get a ticket here. The Ongole MP candidate is still unclear.
Speculations indicate that if the Eluru MP seat is given to BCs, the Ongole seat may go to OCs, and if that is not possible, there is an opportunity to allocate it to BCs here.
