Telangana @ 11: Did Not Just Survive But Thrived

Telangana, the youngest state of India, has turned Eleven Today.

Thanks to a tyrannical Nizam rule, the state is known for abject poverty. They suffered for so long, and when they revolted, the revolt got injected into their veins.

That Rebellious Attitude was the foundation for the Telangana Movement.

They thought Andhra Rulers looked down upon them and discriminated against them. And they could not take it.

The State Formation Struggle lasted for years, and they did not relent. Telangana Agitation is the power of a public movement.

Finally, the statehood was achieved in 2014 with sheer courage and determination.

The discussion about the credit for Telangana Movement often comes. Some credit KCR for leading the movement and some credit Sonia Gandhi for granting the statehood.

But the fact is that the people stood by the demand for years without compromise and finally brought Delhi to its knees.

Once the state is formed, it just did not survive but thrived.

A state once ridiculed for not knowing Rice became one of the highest rice-producing states in the country.

The best part of the Telangana Public is that they are hard outside and soft inside.

Once the movement filled with emotions is done, there are no animosities whatsoever.

When there are instances of attacks on the people of other states in many states in the country, the People of Telangana never discriminate in the name of language, caste, region, or religion.

Easily, Hyderabad is the best city in the country with no Hate Crime.

That makes it the most livable city in the country. So, Hyderabad thrived attracting many investments, and today, Telangana’s GSDP contributes 5.1% to the national GDP, a 1 percentage point increase since the state’s formation.

The Credit for Telangana’s Prosperity lies in its Public.

Even in this phase of calmness, the public does not let go of their Rebellious Attitude.

The same Public sent KCR home after they found highhandedness in two terms of rule. It is the same public that caught up with the anti-incumbency so quickly on Revanth Reddy.

Highly reactive Publics are always pillars of vibrant Democracy. Sometimes, their reactiveness forces wrong decisions, but they also keep the Political Parties on their toes.
