No Fireworks Budget, TG Citizens Get Health Sops

Telangana budget health scheme announcement

Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka presented the state budget for the fiscal year 2026-27. The budget by itself did not have any major promises. There were the usual expenses, but the Budget did not come as a huge surprise.

But one area that has brought good news to citizens of Telangana is health. With rising health issues among people, the Revanth sarkar has decided to introduce a novel scheme – The Indiramma Family Life Insurance Scheme.

Under it, each family in Telangana, yes you read that right, each family in Telangana will get Rs 5 lakh medical insurance. The scheme will cover all 1.15 crore families in Telangana irrespective of class or creed.

The scheme will be implemented from June 2, 2026.

On the other hand, the Finance Minister promised digital health cards for government employees. Bhatti allocated Rs 13,679 crore for health. The Employees Health Scheme promises access to various government and private hospitals, which was a long-pending dream of government employees.

Of course economic analysts say it is a populist scheme, as the schemes are extended to all classes. They say, the schemes would have been best if there was a cap depending on the family incomes.

But in general, the Telangana citizens are happy that the government did address a crucial issue.
