Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao heaped praises on 108 services during YSR’s regime few days ago in the state assembly and now the CM has decided to take the project prestigious. 108 is currently operated on Public Private Partnership with GVK. But various issues are plaguing the entire scheme due to differences between 108 staff and GVK.
So, Telangana government has decided to totally take the service in to its control and operate it on its own. Currently there is one 108 ambulance for every One Lakh people and KCR government is planning to make it one amulance for every 75000 people. Government is procuring 600 new ambulances for this purpose.
108 Emergency Response Service is a free emergency service providing integrated medical, police and fire emergency services. 108 was introduced by YS Rajasekhara Reddy for the first time in India in association with Satyam computers then. After the fallout of Satyam, GVK undertook the service along with the government.
