Ahead of the big power crisis looming large, Telangana state’s hopes for power from gas-based plants in AP are severely pounded. The four independent power plants in united AP – GVK Industries plant at Jegurupadu has the capacity of 216.82 MW of which the Telangana’s share is 116 MW .
Similarly, Telangana should get 112 MW of the total 208 MW from Spectrum Power Generation Ltd – Kakinada, 191 MW of 355 MW from Lanco Kondapalli plant in Vijayawada and 119 MW of 220 MW from Reliance Power Ltd at Samarlakot. However all these units have stopped power generation from the last 2 years as they face severe shortage of gas.
The PPAs made with these plants are going to expire by the end of these years and from then they are not bound to allocate power to Telangana. This is a big blow to the state which is already refused a share from Krishnapatnam and Hinduja Power Plants.
