Telangana Survey to save 200 Cr for the govt!

The Intensive Household Survey of Telangana may have invoked several controversies but the very survey and the planned weeding out of bogus ration cards here after may result in saving of 200 Crores to the government. Currently 1000 Crore is being spent on subsidized rice at the rate of 20 Kgs per month to 88 Lakh BPL card holders and 500 Crore for the schemes like Amma Hastham which is meant for issuing of eight commodities including sugar, wheat, chilli powder, turmeric and tamarind for Rs 185 with a government subsidy of Rs 105 for each family every month.

The bogus Ration cards is deleted as per the plans of the government, an estimated 200 Crore burden is going to be eased from the government. The money thus saved can be used to extend benefits to the genuinely needy once the new ration cards are issued. Along with this, the government is also planning to introduce compulsory Aadhar link for the Ration Cards to avoid duplicate and bogus beneficiaries.
