TG CM on Scribes: Feel Like Slapping Them at Times

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has made rather sensational comments regarding his opinion on present-day journalists. He expressed candid views about social media journalists.

Revanth Reddy said that if they call for a press meet, just about anyone comes and sits in the front row. He said that when he became a public representative 15 years back, junior journalists would rise and give seats to senior journalists irrespective of the paper or channel.

They would have respect, responsibility and credibility. Whoever was with the unions, the journalists had respect for each other. Today, I see rookie journalists coming and sitting in the front row with one leg over the other.

They don’t respect the senior scribes who spent their lives to analyze, debate about various social, political, economic issues. Seniors who sacrificed their time, family life to give news even from remote areas are not respected.

The role of journalists behind the electricity reforms that happened in the state and their valuable analysis regarding liberalization is simply not known to rookie journalists of today, said the CM.

Such persons call themselves journalists today. They come to the press meets and look at us with attitude as if we are inferior to them. I feel like getting down and slap them. Palla, palla iyyalanipistundi, said Revanth Reddy to the assembled journalists.

In the past, we would feel like talking to the journalists after the press meet. We would share our thoughts with them and inquire if what we said was right. Today, the scenario is completely different, said the CM.
