When the Congress Party picked Vijayashanti as the MLC in March, it was a big surprise even to the Political Circles.
Vijayashanti was past her prime a long time ago. She was hopping from one party to another and did not bring any value to the table, many even in the Congress Party believed.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy did not approve of her nomination, but she pulled some strings in Delhi and managed to become an MLC.
Now, Vijayashanti wants to become a Minister.

The other day, Vijayashanti met Congress Party Incharge Meenakshi Natarajan. They met for 15 minutes. It is reported that Vijayashanti requested to be given a ministerial post in the BC quota.
Vijayashanti is an accomplished actress and a Politician.
She acted in more than 130 films, and her recent appearance is in Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi. She reportedly charged 3 crores for the movie.
Yet she plays BC Card to get the Cabinet Berth.
It is unfortunate that someone like Vijayashanti is fully fortunate but still wants to use the Reservation Quota, depriving someone rightfully deserving from those BC communities.
At the time, when there is a discussion in the country that Reservations should go to the deserving poor rather than the fortunate rich of the same communities, Vijayashanti added a strong point to that discussion.
Further, Vijayashanti had switched to the Congress from the BJP just before the elections and was largely inactive on the ground during the campaign.
Her MLC nomination has more to do with her strong links to the leaders in New Delhi rather than grassroots involvement.
Addanki Dayakar, who hails from the SC community, is a better option than Vijayashanti. He played a role in the Telangana Agitation and was a loyalist of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Dayakar has been a vocal critic of the BRS and has remained steadfast with the Congress through the highs and lows of the party in the last 10 years.
We will have to see who the Congress High Command will choose!
