TRS Wins Munugode by 11,666 Majority

Of late, winning a by-election has become a matter of prestige and show of might by the ruling TRS party. The election for the Munugode assembly constituency has been one filled with high drama and lots of accusations and counter-accusations by the parties in the fray.

However, it goes without saying, TRS had the last laugh as their media handling seems to have swayed the voters in favor of the ruling party. Also, with KCR announcing that TRS would now be BRS, the notion of statehood also seems to have worked in his favor.

TRS candidate Kasukuntla Prabhakar Reddy won with around 11,666 votes over BJP’s Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy. Barring a couple of rounds, TRS was leading in all rounds which gave it a smooth win. But the interesting bit is that the Congress party lost its sitting seat and the candidate Palvai Sravanthi even lost her deposit.

The TRS cadre was jubilant and burst crackers at their party offices. TRS had accused both BJP and Congress of trying to buy out the voters but looks like the voters chose TRS over BJP and Congress.
