According to a survey conducted by Telangana government in and around Hyderabad, it is revealed that 5800.12 acres are lying unused in Ranga Reddy district after being allotted to various government and private organizations. Some of these organizations have got the lands sanctioned by previous governments some 20 years ago but failed to put them to use till date. Some of the unused lands are encroached by others too.
Revenue officials have collected the date and sent notices to 75 organizations on these unused lands. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao had ordered the officials to try to retrieve the lands as soon as possible. Government is planning to make money by auctioning these lands or add some of these to the land bank proposed by the government to attract the investors.
APIIC in the United State has the highest unused land of 2163.07 acres. Deccan Infrastructures Limited did not put in to use the 885.01 acres land allotted to it. HMDA has left 1696.31 acres land unused after being allotted to it. Some of the private companies who did not use the allotted lands have got big loans from banks keeping them as surety.
