The Telangana elections are around the corner and today marks an important day as today is the last date for the withdrawal of the nominations for the coming assembly elections in the state.
In KCR’s own constituency, Gajwel, a record number of candidates have withdrawn their nominations. A total of 114 nominations, including opposition parties and independents, were filed in Gajwel. But a record 58 were withdrawn yesterday and today. Nearly half the total nominations were withdrawn.
Congress and BJP have also successfully managed to get most of their rebel candidates to withdraw their nominations. These national parties’ high commands came in touch with their rebel leaders and convinced them to step away.
Suryapet Patel Ramesh Reddy, Jukkal’s Gangaram, Bansuwada’s Balaraju, Dornakal’s Nehru Nayak, and Warangal East’s Raghava Reddy withdrew their nominations. These are all Congress rebel candidates. BJP also got their rebels to withdraw in big numbers.
The final tally on the total number of withdrawals will be out soon, but what is for certain is that the tally is going to be a record-breaking one.
