What Is the Use of Special Railway Zone?

Separate Railway Zone with Vishakapatnam as Headquarters is the longstanding demand of the local people. But then NDA government is delaying it for a long time to protect their interests in Odisha. The other day, Railway Senior Officials have given one more indication that the Separate Railway Zone may not be possible.

While talking to media personnel about the allocations to AP and Telangana in the budget, the officials while saying that a three-member committee is looking into the Railway Zone demand but still went on to ask what is the use of the Railway Zone.

“One Zone for One State is not necessary. Funds will be allocated according to the needs of all the area. Also, the revenue coming from one division will not go to that division. It will all go to the consolidated fund of the Indian Railways. So, there is not much use of a Railway Zone,” an official opined.
