What Will KCR Do if SC Also Rejects?

Former Telangana CM KCR has approached the Supreme Court to abolish the Electricity Commission appointed by the Congress government. This move comes after the Telangana High Court rejected his earlier petition seeking the same. KCR has challenged the High Court’s verdict, and the case is set to be heard tomorrow before Chief Justice Chandrachud’s bench.

The backdrop to this legal battle involves the Justice L. Narasimha Reddy Commission, which is investigating the Chhattisgarh power purchase agreement and the construction of Bhadradri and Yadadri thermal power stations under the BRS government.

The commission has issued two notices to KCR, seeking clarification on his role in the power purchase agreement. KCR previously approached the Telangana High Court to avoid being summoned for the investigation, but the High Court rejected his plea, prompting him to take the matter to the Supreme Court.

KCR’s legal maneuvers are causing significant concern within the BRS party, which is already facing considerable challenges. The party is on the verge of collapse in the Assembly and has no representation in the Lok Sabha.

Additionally, uncertainty looms over when KCR’s daughter, Kavitha, will secure bail in the Delhi liquor scam. Rumors circulating on social media suggest that BRS might collaborate with BJP, a move that could inadvertently benefit Congress in the state.

Should the Supreme Court reject KCR’s appeal, he will be left with no option but to attend the commission’s inquiry. This series of events is likely to fuel public perception that the BRS government engaged in kickbacks related to the power agreements, further damaging the party’s reputation during an already turbulent period.
