The Cash Strapped Andhra Pradesh is struggling to find means of money to fund its regular expenses but the state is spending a whopping 1500 Crore for the arrangements of Godavari Pushkaralu. Out of which, Center promised 100 Crore which will come some time or other. Is this huge expense really necessary at this crisis. Yes says the government, Godavari Pushkaralu is a very important event for people all along the river and it comes every 12 years making it an event which can not be ignored.
Pilgrims consider it very sacred to take the holy bath where Godavari river goes in to the sea and so they throng to the ghats at Rajahmundry, Kovvur and Narasapuram. The government is expecting 3.5 crore pilgrims from all across the country who will take holy bath and perform rituals in the state during the 12-day Pushakaram. Arrangements should be on a large scale which will improve the state’s image and tourism.
