Will Center Live up to Jagan’s Expectations?

Vexed with the back to back defections from his party into the ruling Telugu Desam Party. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has got his man in Rajya Sabha, Vijaya Sai Reddy to put up a Private Member Bill demanding the amending of the 10th schedule and the 361B amendment of the constitution of India.

This is to ensure strict action against defectors of parties and barring them from taking up any positions in future. The Bill was put up for voting a little while ago and it was passed by Voice Vote. The Bill will be now forwarded to the Central government which may or may not take it into consideration.

This is the first Private Member Bill put up by Vijaya Sai Reddy after getting elected to Rajya Sabha couple of months ago. It has to be seen if Modi government strengthen the rules to avoid defections and live up to Jagan’s expectations. Let’s see if all this can stop the mass exodus of MLAs from YSR Congress to Telugu Desam Party.
