Will Jagan Bear YSRCP’s Election Expenses?

Elections in Andhra Pradesh are nearing. In Andhra Pradesh, election expenses keep on increasing every five years. The 2024 elections are going to be costliest in the history.

But then, there are doubts that YSR Congress will have a funding problem.

Usually, MLAs will fund their election expenses and the party or the rich MLAs or the MPs will fund the election expenses of the candidates in reserved seats.

On most occasions, MLAs do not spend their own money. They accept donations from small leaders, cadres, and contractors. But then, things are so different this time.

The contractors, small leaders, and cadre have all their money struck with the Government. They did work trusting the Government and their bills are not cleared.

Only for the employment guarantee scheme, there are around 3000 Crore bills pending. All these works were done by YSRCP members only because immediately after coming to power, Jagan stopped the bills of TDP contractors.

They had to fight in court to get them. Knowing what is in store, they did not do work in this government.

Given the financial condition of AP, the bills are unlikely to be cleared. Even if cleared, the contractors who suffered paying interest will be in no mood to donate.

So, the MLAs will have a funding problem. They either have to spend money from their own pocket or the party will have to help them.

That means Jagan may have to arrange money for the MLAs.
