Casinos in Vishakapatnam wants to transform the city in to a gambling hub. Several Casino owners in Goa are looking to open their branches in Vishakapatnam. They propose the government to setup casinos in the beach city and is trying to lure the government citing the example of Goa in which the government earns about Rs 100 crore annually in the form of taxes from more than 20 casinos.
They also ascertain the government that the legalization of casinos in the city will develop the tourism in the state. Currently, casinos are allowed only in Sikkim, Goa and the Union Territory of Daman, India.
Goa alone accounts for 95 per cent of the gambling business of the country and plays a crucial role in drawing foreign tourists. The casino owners say Vishakaptnam has everything in it to become one more Goa. However there are severe concerns from the locals since the casion culture will bring lawlessness in the quiet city. We will have to see what Chandrababu Naidu decides on it!
