With back-to-back failures, Sunrisers Hyderabad has now announced that Kane Williamson will be taking the mantle from David Warner for the rest of the IPL 2021 matches. In this regard, the franchise released the statement on its Twitter handle page.
So far, Sunrisers Hyderabad has played six matches and won only a single match. Warner started off his game well but the same momentum failed in other matches. Currently, SRH is placed at the bottom in the eight-team points table.
However, the Sunrisers team haven’t expressed their displeasure with David Warner as everyone has their own low. The team hopes that David soon finds his pace which has been an added advantage to the team.
Kane Williamson has earlier taken over the charge from David during 2018 and 2019 captaincy. He proved his calibre back then as he emerged as the top-scorer with 735 runs and took the team to runner-up position. Meanwhile, absence of marquee players like Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Natarajan have also added to the woes of SRH but Williamson’s entry has revived lost hopes. On Sunday, SRH will be having a face off with Rajasthan Royals.
