12 MLC seats will go for elections in Andhra Pradesh under Local Bodies quota. Congress had already decided not to contest this election and now YSR Congress had decided to contest only in those areas it has strength which means YSRCP will be contesting only two – Prakash and Kurnool districts of the total 12 seats.

They will contest for one seat each in Vishakapatnam, Krishna and Guntur, if the notification is given at a time for the two seats of each district. YSR Congress stands no chance if the notification is given separately for each seat.
Fearing defeat, YSR Congress had already back off from the contest in more than half of the seats. It is not sure about the winning of in their strong holds as the local YSRCP MPTCs and ZPTCs are not so happy with the party and are looking towards the ruling party. On the other day, Prakasam district ZPTC Chairman Balaji (YSRCP) announced he is joining TDP on 11th of this month.
