The latest talk among Kapu political circles is about YSRCP Kapu leaders heading towards Janasena. Many feel the shift was coming since the Assembly elections and the thumping defeat of YSRCP.
Speaking of the Kapu community, YCP leader Jagan Mohan Reddy tried his best to project himself as a pro-Kapu leader during elections time. He took quite a few Kapu leaders into his fold hoping to divide the Kapu community votes against Janasena.
Jagan tried his best to show that ‘big’ Kapu leaders like Kannababu, Mudragada, Jakkampudi were with him. He even had Vanga Geeta, again from Kapu community, contest against Pawan Kalyan in Pithapuram. But there was no stopping Pawan Kalyan.
Post elections, Pawan Kalyan brought stability into Janasena and strengthened its base. He is now the deputy CM in alliance government. This has resulted in majority of Kapus turning towards Janasena in a big way.
So the latest buzz is that the Kapu leaders in YSRCP are feeling isolated as their own leaders are said to be distancing themselves from the seniors. Their presence in the party has become name-sake which is hurting the YSRCP Kapu leaders.
Neither are Kapus looking at YCP leaders as strong contenders for Janasena. Already, Pithapurm ex MLA Pendam Dorababu is going to join Janasena in the presence of Pawan Kalyan. Though he was supposed to contest from Kakinada Rural on Janasena ticket during 2024 elections, he stopped after YCP’s command.
Now, with change in power, Dorababu is said to be in a taggedele mode. More Kapu leaders are headed into Janasena as per political circles.
As for YSRCP, it remains to be seen if it tries to pacify Kapu leaders from Godavari districts or simply let them go.
Time for some action in the coming days from Kapu leaders!
