What is the film about?
Varun (Srinivas Reddy) and Pallavi (Siddhi Idnani) want to get divorced. They get the perfect lawyer in Hariprasad who is a specialist in divorce. When it looked like the couple will get what they want there is a twist in the tale. The personalities get swapped. What happens, in the end, is what all the film is about?

How is Srinivas Reddy’s performance?
Srinivas Reddy picks up a predictable relatable character as he has done in the past. It helps in one getting an instant connection with the role. However, beyond the relatability, there is nothing from performance wise that stands out. The female act he puts up is a stereotype done very routinely and doesn’t really make the overall act special.

Direction By JB Murali Krishna?
Director JB Murali Krishna has picked a very routine and outdated plot for Jambalakidi Pamba. It wouldn’t have mattered had the narration been updated. Not that the director did not try, he did in the backdrops chosen for the hero and heroine. But the scenes that are part of the narrative and the way the conflict is resolved is so dated, including the dialogues that feels like they are re-used.

One can feel the patriarchal mindset in the way certain scenes are conceived and the problems picked up and solved. It is the overall concoction, therefore, that drags the film down. There are small parts that feel funny or where the narrative looks engaging despite utter predictability, but they are immediately diluted in creating an impact.

The first half barely passes muster, but the second half changes its perception with the way it goes about its narrative. The movie gets progressively worst and childish as repetition sets in without any real progress in the story. The village track derails all the build-up with utter silliness and stupidity on display.

Jamba lakidi Pamba, on the whole, fails in providing the entertainment. And since it was the primary intention, it gives no reason to come to cinemas.

Sidhi Idnani and others?
Sidhi Idnani has been given a demanding role of acting like a man. She tries her best, but it doesn’t come across as natural. Props to her for trying though. Apart from the main lead, it is Posani Krishna Murali who has a crucial full-fledged role in the movie. He does his part well and delivers the message whenever the time comes.

Hari Tej plays her part well and registers to the audience. Vennela Kishore is funny in parts. Raghu Babu overdoes his act. Satyam Rajesh is wasted. Shakalaka Shankar is impactful whereas Dhan Raj is adequate. Jayaprakash Reddy is seen in only one scene. Tanikella Bharani and Sudha are fine.

Music and other departments?
Music by Gopi Sundar is passable and so is the background score. The cinematography is okay. The editing could have been better. The writing is weak and repetitive.

Highlights?
Few Comedy Scenes
Small Parts in First Half

Drawbacks?
Routine Story
Even Routine Narration
Second Half
Feels Lengthy

Alternative Take
A more yuppy modern take on the gender issues and the problems with marriage would have made Jamba Lakidi Pamba a better exercise at movie making.
