The renowned tech giant Google appears to be contemplating further job cuts following the layoffs in various departments during the first week of 2024. According to ‘The Verge,’ CEO Sundar Pichai conveyed this information to employees through an internal memo.
Pichai explained that the decision to invest in priority areas necessitates tough choices. The plan involves simplifying and expediting management processes by removing layers in specific departments, although it won’t be as extensive as the large-scale layoffs last year. Not all sections will be affected.
Last year, Google witnessed a historic layoff, releasing 12,000 employees. This year, some layoffs have occurred, including 100 employees from YouTube’s operations and creator management departments. Additionally, Google issued pink slips to 1,000 individuals in the advertising sales team, offering compensation packages and the option to apply for positions in other departments.
