
A report reveals that Indian tech firms have laid off more employees in 2023 than last year. Approximately 14,418 individuals lost their jobs, slightly surpassing the 2022 figure of 14,224. The report suggests that most of these layoffs have affected startups.
Bengaluru experienced 60% of these job cuts, followed by Gurugram (16%), Mumbai (11%), and Delhi (5%). The education sector had the highest number of job cuts, accounting for 80% of all layoffs, followed by food manufacturing, retail, consumer, healthcare, finance, and transport sectors.
The United States leads in global layoffs, followed by India, Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Brazil, Australia, and China.
