TS Govt’s Strict Action Against Hookah Parlours

Ever since it came into power, the Congress government has been taking strict action against the peddling and usage of intoxicating drugs. In the process, the Assembly has now unanimously supported the bill banning hookah parlours in the state.

A Bill to amend the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003 was passed unanimously with just a voice vote without any discussion between the parties. The bill was brought to the members when the session started in the house today. Legislative Affairs Minister D. Sridhar Babu explained the necessity of banning hookah due to its adverse effects on the younger generation.

Due to the rise in usage of ganja and other narcotic drugs in hookah parlours, the police department has requested the government to ban them.
